About the Coffee

This coffee comes from Karii Wet Mill, part of the Mutira Farmers' Cooperative Society in Kirinyaga, one of Kenya's most celebrated coffee-growing regions. Situated on the fertile slopes between Mount Kenya and the Aberdare Range, the area combines rich volcanic soils, cool high-altitude temperatures and abundant seasonal rainfall - conditions that produce some of the country's most vibrant and expressive coffees.

Around 600 smallholder farmers deliver handpicked cherries to Karii, where every harvest begins with careful hand sorting to remove underripe and overripe fruit. The coffee is then depulped and fermented for 24-36 hours before being washed and graded by density in traditional washing channels. Finally, the beans are slowly dried on raised African beds for up to 20 days, allowing sweetness, clarity and complexity to fully develop.

The result is a classic washed Kenyan coffee - bright, elegant and remarkably clean, showcasing the lively character that has made Kirinyaga one of the world's most respected coffee origins.
